Lois Lovella Evans

Lois Lovella Evans, age 79, a resident of Bloomfield and formerly of Mississippi County, died at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at the Beverly Healthcare Center in Bloomfield.

She was born April 24, 1924, in Bear Creek, Ala., to the late John Malcolm and Cora Willis Frix. Having lived in Mississippi County most of her life, she had lived in Bloomfield for the past 23 years and was a member of the First Christian Church in East Prairie.

On Oct. 26, 1946, she married William N. "Dude" Evans who preceded her in death Jan. 24, 2003.

Surviving are two sons, James Curtis Evans of Dallas, Texas, and William George Evans of Bloomfield; three daughters, Donna Forbey of Bloomfield, Netta Stevens of New Orleans, La., and Treva Doris King of East Prairie; two sisters, Elsie Shelby of Bertrand and Jeffie Goodrum of Hayti; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Four brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2003. Rev. Kevin Eskew of Bloomfield will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
