Wayne Stark Black, age 69, a resident of Charleston, died at 7:59 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 26, 1934, in Charleston to the late Paul Ramsey and Eunice Stark Black. He served with the U.S. Air Force for nine years and then lived in Blodgett while he was employed with the Sikeston United States Post Office for 40 years. He returned to Charleston upon his retirement where he had served on the board of the Charleston Nutrition Center. He attended the Assembly of God Church.
On Oct. 7, 1989, he married Sharron Black Friend who survives of the home.
Also surviving are two daughters, Judith Diann Miller and Dayna Michelle Laseter of St. Louis; two step-sons, Lowell Friend of Covington, Tenn., and Oral Friend of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Lucille Stephenson of Poplar Bluff and Shirley Hughes of Dexter; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
One brother, Lowell Black, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, with Rev. Gerald Penn, pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Charleston officiating.
Military graveside rites will be conducted at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery by the Missouri Funeral Honor Guard with interment following under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
