Mr. Virgil Brittain, 89, of Blytheville, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville, Ark. Born Aug. 12, 1914, in Mt. View, the son of Arthur Monroe and Lenora Brand Brittain, he was a retired farmer, a longtime Blytheville resident, and of the Church of Christ faith.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Cavalry Horse Regiment.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Frances Gloria Carson Brittain, one daughter, Barbara Ryals, one grandchild and one great-grandchild preceded him in death.

Survivors include four daughters, Carole Eubanks of Jonesboro, Ark., Gaye Miller of Bernie, Cindy Baugh of Sevierville, Tenn., and Viki Hand of Blytheville; four sisters, Alma Permenter and Addie Pritchard, both of Blytheville, Ark., Maxine Stalcup of Mt. View, and Ernestine Owens of Batesville, Miss.; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, at Cobb Funeral Home in Blytheville, Ark.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at Dogwood Cemetery with Mr. Brittain's son-in-law officiating.
