Edith May Scism, 87, of Warrensburg, formerly of Dexter, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at St. Lukes Hospital in Kansas City.

She was born May 6, 1916, near Bloomfield, the daughter of Oscar Franklin Williamson and Ollie Adeline Pry Williamson.

Mrs. Scism had been a seamstress for Elder Manufacturing Co. and had owned and operated a fabric shop both in Dexter. She also had been a representative for Merle Norman Cosmetics.

She had attended the Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church in Bloomfield and the First United Methodist Church in Warrensburg.

On June 19, 1937, in Bloomfield, she married Edgar Eugene Scism, and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1997.

Survivors include a son, Allen J. Scism of Warrensburg; a sister, Oma Matthews of Salem, Ill.; a brother Arvel Williamson of Dexter; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Neal, Lucille Rankin and Emma Williamson; by two infant brothers; and two brothers, Herman and Kenneth Williamson.

Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg with Rev. David Norbury officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
