Gladys Theo "Peggy" Baker

Gladys Theo "Peggy" Baker, a resident of Poplar Bluff, the daughter of the late P.O. Beasley and Dolly Parr Beasley, was born Sept. 3, 1920, in Windfield, Ala., and died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at Ridgeview Nursing Center in Malden at the age of 83.

She was united in marriage to Harvey Baker on July 2, 1938 in Lepanto, Ark., and he survives of the home.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarkton. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Gideon and RSVP in Malden.

She had been a nurse's aide at Doctors Regional Medical Center before retiring.

Survivors include her husband, Harvey Baker of Poplar Bluff; two daughters, Carmelita Moyse of St. Louis and Carolyn Lemings of Dexter; one son, Wayman Baker of Poplar Bluff; three sisters, Jewell Kilgo and Jean Tabor, both of Malden, and Margie Fowler of Caddo Mills, Texas; two brothers, Ed Beasley of Clarkton and Jerry Beasley of Creal Springs, Ill.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Wayne Baker; two sisters, Ann Beasley and Deaner Lane; two brothers, Leon and Billy Beasley; and one great-grandson.

Visitation was held at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden with Rev. Earnest Puckett officiating.

Interment followed in Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton.
