Jacob Whittemore, son of Melisa Hartley Elkins of Dexter and Jeremy Whittemore of Dexter, was born May 21, 2003, at Poplar Bluff and died in the St. Louis Children's Hospital on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at the age of six months.

Besides his parents, he is survived by one brother, Cody Elkins of Dexter; one sister, Caitlyn Whittemore of Dexter; his maternal grandmother, Cynthia Hartley; his maternal step-grandfather Robert Smith of Bernie; his paternal grandmother, Sherry Whittemore of Dexter; his paternal step-grandfather, Larry Carnell of Dexter; one aunt, Stacey Johnson of Dexter; three uncles, Robert C. Smith of Bernie, Daniel Whittemore and Dustin Carnell, both of Dexter; and two cousins, Brittany Whittemore and Nevaeh Johnson, both of Dexter.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Jared Scott Elkins; his paternal grandfather, Gary Whittemore.

Visitation was held from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie with Rev. Buddy Heaton officiating.

Interment followed in the Bernie Cemetery.
