Luther Burns Jr.

Luther Burns, Jr., son of the late Luther Burns and Laverne Cavness Burns, was born on Oct. 19, 1938, at Parma and died in the St. Luke's Hospital at St. Louis on Dec. 12, 2003, at the age of 65.

Mr. Burns was of the Baptist faith, a former truck driver for Elfrink Truck Lines, currently the alderman for the north ward in the City of Bloomfield, and a resident of Bloomfield.

He was united in marriage to Carolyn Woodall on Jan. 24, 1958, at Dexter. Mrs. Burns survives of the home in Bloomfield.

Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Kenny Burns and Randy Burns, both of Bloomfield; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Paula Kay Burns.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Lambert officiating.

Interment followed in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
