Eva L. Eskew

Eva L. Eskew, the daughter of the late William Albert and Edith Edna Moore Martin, was born near Bloomfield on Feb. 1, 1913, and died at the Beverly Health and Rehab Center in Dexter on Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at the age of 90.

Mrs. Eskew had lived all of her life in the Dexter area. She attended the Sweet Prospect Church and was a Gold Star Mother.

On Jan. 16, 1932, she was married to Curtis L. Eskew in Bloomfield, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1996.

Mrs. Eskew's son, Sgt. Curtis Dean Eskew, was killed in action in the Vietnam War on July 29, 1967.

Surviving are two sons, Dale Jean Eskew of Dexter and Larry Dwayne Eskew of Jackson; four daughters, Helen Delois Gales and Vera Pauline Griffy, both of Dexter, Reta Mardell DePriest of Kennett, and JoAnn Pettibone of Overland; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Emory Martin; one sister, Wanda Ross; and two grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Dean Williams of Dexter officiating.

Interment followed in the Triplett Cemetery near Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
