Dewayne Acton

Dewayne Berl Acton, son of Faye Tracy Acton of Kirksville and the late Elder Walter P. Acton, was born on Feb. 19, 1929, at Davis County, Iowa, and died in the St. Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at the age of 74.

Mr. Acton was a member of the Southwest Church of the Nazarene in Dexter, a former truck driver and mechanic with Malone and Hyde at Sikeston, a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Korean War and a resident of Dexter.

He was first united in marriage to Vera Louise McCullough on June 1, 1950, at Harrisburg, Ark. She preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 1964. He then married Shirley Ann DeArman on Dec. 24, 1964, at Dexter. She preceded him in death on Sept. 28, 1995. He was then united in marriage to Betty Denkins Reynolds on June 15, 1996. Mrs. Acton survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, other survivors include four sons, Terry Acton of College Station, Texas, Randy Acton, Rick Acton and Tony Acton of Dexter; five daughters, Roxanna Reynolds of Sikeston, Rita Summers of Jefferson City, Sherry Moore of Port Isabel, Texas, Rosalie Howe and Rhonda Anderson, both of Kirksville; his mother, Faye Acton of Kirksville; three step-sons, Ron Reynolds of Dexter, Don Reynolds and Rick Reynolds, both of Bloomfield; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.

Besides his two wives and father, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Rena Kay Acton; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Gerald Beam officiating.

Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
