E. Lucile Tanner, 87, of Doniphan, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, in St. Louis County.

Mrs. Tanner was born July 23, 1916, in Dexter to the late James and Ada (Hopkins) Hender and had lived in Doniphan and Poplar Bluff where she graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1934. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Doniphan and a past board member of the Doniphan Nutrition Center.

On Feb. 29, 1936, she married Theo Tanner in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1977.

Survivors include two sons, Bruce Tanner of St. Charles and Edward Tanner of House Springs; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.

The funeral service followed at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Vernon Knier and Bro. Wade Rogers officiating.

Interment followed in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
