Gene Carpenter

Kirby Gene Carpenter, son of the late Herby Carpenter and Catherine Walker Carpenter, was born Aug. 13, 1930, at Dudley and died at the residence of his daughter at Oxford, Mich., on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at the age of 73.

Mr. Carpenter was a former inspector for Pontiac Motors at Pontiac, Mich., a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War and a resident of Dudley.

He was united in marriage to Wanda Bernice Parks on July 3, 1950, at Piggott, Ark. Mrs. Carpenter survives of the home in Dudley.

Besides his wife, survivors include one son, Stanley Joe Carpenter of Dudley; two daughters, Jeanne Garrett and husband John of Oxford, Mich., and Marsha Rotundo and husband Bill of Oxford, Mich.; two brothers, Richard Carpenter of Dudley and Phillip Dale Carpenter of House Springs; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Ab and Becky Frields of Dexter.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Carrol Michael Carpenter and one sister, Ilene Ruth Carpenter.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Ward officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dudley Cemetery.
