Mabel M. Dinkens, 87, of Grassy, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Feb. 4, 1916, at Hahn, the daughter of the late Earl and Dora Shell Hendershott. She and Theodore Gaines were married, and he preceded her in death. On Dec. 15, 1950, she and L.B. "Dick" Dinkens were married, and he preceded her in death on July 14, 1993.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Palmore Chapel General Baptist Church.
Survivors include five daughters, Wilma Rouggly of Grassy, Berniece Smith of Advance, Louise Acup of Marble Hill, Brenda Spiller of Wentzville, and Margie Payne of McGee; three sons, Don Dinkens of Whitewater, Richard Dinkens of Zalma and Kenneth Dinkens of Advance; one step-son, L.B. "Jay" Dinkens of Apache Junction, Ariz.; one brother, Charlie Hendershott of Senath; two sisters, Clara Hamman of Frona and Lillian Rouggly of St. Louis; 24 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was one step-son, four brothers, and two sisters.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill with Rev. Bob Porter and Michael Rouggly officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dan Eaker Cemetery near Hahn.
