Mr. Johnson was a retired farmer, a member of the Bernie Masonic Lodge, Malden American Legion, Dexter Elks Lodge #2439 and a resident of Bernie.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Johnson of Bernie and Bob Johnson of Dexter; one daughter, LaDawn Owens of Bernie; one sister, Virginia Battles of Bernie; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Tanner.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie. A Masonic Lodge service was held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at the funeral chapel.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dale Hartle officiating.
Interment followed in the Bernie Cemetery.
