Sue Uthoff Snow

Sue Uthoff Snow, 74, the daughter of Collis P. Buchanan and Bessie Lee Gulledge, was born Oct. 12, 1929, in Malden and died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was first married to Richard Pope on Aug. 24, 1948, at Piggott, Ark., and he preceded her in death. She later married Amos J. Uthoff on Nov. 14, 1961, at Bloomfield, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1989. On June 19, 2001, at Piggott, Ark., she married Curtis P. Snow, who survives of Malden.

Upon graduating from college, she taught school at East Prairie; she later owned and operated Uthoff Grocery in Malden; she was a bookkeeper for Santie Oil company in Malden for 10 years. For the past 29 years, she was the Six County Area DAEOC office manager until her retirement.

She was a member of the Kimball Baptist Church located in Malden.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis Snow of Malden; one daughter, Jenna Bates of Malden; one son, Richard Pope of Camdenton; three brothers, Benny Buchanan of Dexter, William Buchanan of Invernisse, Fla., and Robert Buchanan of Sikeston; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Stephen Ford Pope and William Paul Pope; and one brother, Billy Buchanan.

Visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden with Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating.

Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.
