Jewell Pointer, daughter of the late J.W. Allison and Violet Cullins Allison, was born on Feb. 14, 1911 at Bernie and departed this life in the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital at Festus on Jan. 9, 2004 at the age of 92.
Mrs. Pointer was a member of the Bernie General Baptist Church, a former cook at the Bernie High School and a former resident of Bernie currently residing at Festus, Mo.
She was united in marriage to Ginger Pointer on Jan. 23, 1929 at Piggot, Ark. Mr. Pointer preceded her in death on June 7, 1969.
Survivors include two sons, Lelan Pointer of Swartz Creek, Mich. and Myrell Pointer of Flint, Texas; by one daughter, Willetta Kleinschmidt of Festus; by two brothers, Evan Allison of Flint, Mich. and Bob Allison of Mt. Morris, Mich.; by one sister, Pearl Shelton of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; by ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Donald Pointer on Nov. 13, 2003; by two brothers, J.L. Allison and Billy Allison; by two sisters Betty Reed and Opal Kincaid.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 2 until 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004. Funeral services will then be conducted at 3 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Fitzpatrick officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
