Darrol Dowdy, son of Pauline Lawrence Dowdy of Dexter and the late Danzil Dowdy was born on Oct. 17, 1939 at rural Dexter and departed this life in the emergency room of the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter on January 8, 2004 at the age of 64.
Mr. Dowdy was a member of the Westside Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, he was the former co-owner of Christian-Dowdy Lumber Company in Dexter, a board member of the Armstead Dowdy Cemetery Association, active in the Prison Ministry at the Southeast Correctional Facility at Charleston and a resident of Dexter.
He was united in marriage to Elaine Jordan on Feb. 15, 1959 at Broseley. Mrs. Dowdy survives of the home near Dexter.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by one son, Darius Dowdy of Dexter; by one daughter, Lisa Walters of Dexter; by two brothers, Larry Dowdy of Cape Girardeau and Dan Dowdy of Dexter; by three sisters, Janice Crum of Park Hills, Roberta Sanders of Colombia, and Gloria Lynn Dowdy of Kansas City, Mo.; by two grandchildren, Jordan Walters and Elijah Dowdy.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5 until 8 p.m., Sunday January 11, 2004. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2004 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Lex Horner officiating. Interment will follow in the Armstead Dowdy Cemetery near Dexter.
