J.P. Cook, son of the late Judy Paul, Sr., and Isabelle Cline Cook, was born at Bloomfield on May 14, 1923, and died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter at the age of 80.

Mr. Cook was a resident of Bloomfield, a member of the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield, a member of the Bloomfield Lodge #153 A.F. & A.M. and drove a truck for Valley Steel for 23 years, retiring in 1992.

On April 29, 1944, he was married to Bertie Duffey.

Survivors include his wife, Bertie Cook of the home in Bloomfield, three brothers, James Cook of Cincinnati, Ohio, Bob Cook of Belvedere, Ill.. and Eldon Cook of Florissant; and one sister, Ruth Ann Wilson of Chicago, Ill.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Jewell Scott.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Kevin Eskew and Rev. Greg Stevens officiating.

Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.
