Floy Jones Gruen, 90, formerly of Lilbourn, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, in New Athens, Ill.

She was born Feb. 9, 1913, in Canalou, the daughter of the late Leslie Logan and Coela Greer Arbuckle. She was a grade school teacher; during her teaching career, she taught in Charter Oak, Canalou, Kendell, St. Louis and Lilbourn before retiring. She was active in Daughters of the American Revolution, Registrar of New Madrid Chapter of Lucy Jefferson Lewis DAR, and a member of the American Legion in Dexter.

She was married to Orval Jones, and he preceded her in death in 1958.

She later married Elmer Gruen, and he preceded her in 1977.

Survivors include one son, Alva C. Jones of Freeburg, Ill.; two daughters, Freda Smith of Lilbourn and Reba E. Jones of New Athens, Ill.; two sisters, Norma Ellen Busby of Lilbourn and Leora Alice Newman of Portageville; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Arlynn Jones; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. today, Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at New Madrid Church of Christ.

The funeral service will then be conducted at 3 p.m. Feb. 1, 2004, with Dale Grissom and Ed Thomason officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery in Lilbourn.

Ponder Funeral Home of Lilbourn is in charge of arrangements.
