Edna Aline Green

Edna Aline Green, daughter of the late James William and Carrie Gamble Hawkins of Advance, was born June 9, 1918, in Advance and died in St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at the age of 85.

Mrs. Green had lived in the Advance and Bloomfield area most of her life. She was of the Baptist faith.

On April 21, 1933, she was united in marriage to Barney Wesley Green. They were married for 53 years. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1988. To this union 16 children were born.

Surviving children are John Green of Bloomfield, Wanda and J.C. Powers of Advance, Bill Green of Bloomfield, Shelby and Clifford Compas of Scott City, Dixie and Curt Billingsley of Dexter, Jerry and Francis Green of St. Charles, Donald and Rita Green of Winfield, Sharon and Mike Giger of Bell City, Barney and Jackie Green of Bloomfield, Faye and Robert Cockrell of Glen Allen, Roy and Judy Green of Bell City, Gary Green of Bloomfield, Sue Adams of Steele, Doris and Ron Lacy of Bell City, Linda and John Harvey of Bloomfield.

Also surviving are 33 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-granchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, James Green; one grandson, one great-granddaughter; one son-in-law, Clyde Cook; and one daughter-in-law, Freda Green; seven brothers, Will, Edgar, Ottis, Arthur, Herbert, Reuben and James Hawkins; and three sisters, Ruth Moyers, Ruby Faulk and Estle McNeely.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance with Rev. Bob Wiggins officiating.

Interment will follow in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
