Julia Ann Burke

Julia Ann Burke, daughter of the late Gabe A. Pointer and Ida Ellen Neal Pointer, was born on Nov. 1, 1913, in Bernie and died in The Greens Creekside Healthcare Center at Kansas City on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at the age of 90.

Mrs. Burke was a member of the Bernie General Baptist Church since 1937, loved to express herself by playing and singing music, and was a former resident of Bernie.

She was united in marriage to Ules Grover Burke on Dec. 6, 1931, in Piggott, Ark., and Mr. Burke preceded her in death on July 27, 1968.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Janis and Dr. Larry Gallamore of Kansas City; one daughter-in-law, Mary Burke of Bernie; one brother, Byron Pointer of Bernie; two sisters, Jean Yeager of Dexter and Thelma Plympton of Waterford, Mich.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry and David Burke; one daughter, Janet Ann Burke; two brothers, Fred and Henry Pointer; one sister, Eunice Reeves; and one granddaughter, Pam Burke.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie from 5-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Bernie General Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004, with Rev. Arvil Edmonds officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
