Joseph O. Greene

Joseph O. Greene, son of Albert Green and Beulah Crafton Green, was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Portageville and died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at Crowley Ridge Care in Dexter at the age of 76.

Mr. Greene was retired Postmaster of the Bernie Post Office after 26 years and a retired farmer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Bethany General Baptist Church in Campbell where he taught Sunday School for several years.

On Jan. 17, 1948, he was united in marriage to Della Lee Green at Piggott, Ark.

Survivors include his wife, Della Greene of Bernie; three sons, Kenneth J. Greene and Bruce W. Greene, both of Dexter, and Phillip B. Greene of Jackson; one daughter, Kathy Walker of Bernie; three sisters, Allie McCrory of Portageville, Doris Moody and Helen Preyer, both of Malden; one brother, Bill Green of Malden; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Ira, Homer, Ercel and Bob Green.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden with Rev. Bryan Johnson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery in Campbell.
