Wilma Beulah Adams

Wilma Beulah Adams, daughter of the late Walter E. Howell and Lelie Smith Howell, was born on Nov. 4, 1906, at Parma and died at her residence in rural Dexter on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at the age of 97.

Mrs. Adams was a member of the Bernie Nazarene Church and a homemaker.

She was united in marriage to William Oades Adams on Feb. 16, 1924, at Piggott. Mr. Adams preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1994.

Survivors include two sons, William Bud Adams of Navarre, Fla., and Marvin Adams of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Welta Young of Dexter and Martha Hampton of Minooka, Ill.; four sisters, Mary Davis of Dexter, Willie Carlsen of St. Charles, Dorothy Botsch of Bernie and Opal Rodgers of Jackson; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Rubert Howell, Reuben Howell and Jack Howell; three sisters, Virginia Smith, Ruth Faulkner and Gladys Smith.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie with Rev. Don Wells officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
