Delmar Winford Garland

Delmar Winford Garland, son of Jerry Garland and Vevia Pearl Skelton Garland, was born April 27, 1923, at Malden and died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at his residence in Malden.

He was a retired sales representative for Ashcraft Wholesale Foods and a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II.

On Nov. 9, 1949, he was married to Clara Lee Kincade at Piggott, Ark., and she survives of the home.

He was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Malden.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Keith Garland of Dexter and Jim Garland of Springfield; two daughters, Teresa Chalk of Portageville and Sandra Crews of Jackson; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Francis Fay Carter of Paducah, Ky., and Flossie Beaird of Parma; two brothers, Jay Garland of Malden and Ray Garland of Canyon Lake, Texas.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Evelyn Adell Lanier; and three brothers, Kenneth, Paul and Joe Garland.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden with Rev. John Rhodes and Bro. Howard Winberry officiating.

Interment will follow in Bernie Cemetery. Military rites will be held at the graveside.

Memorials may be made to the First General Baptist Church in Malden.
