Samantha Camille "Sammy" Thomann, age 83, of Sikeston, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, at 5 a.m. at Missouri Delta Medical Center. She was born on March 7, 1920, in Portageville to the late Benjamin Arthur and Lillie Mae Bodi Tanner. She was the supervisor of the sewing department for 32 years at International Shoe Company and then worked in the cafeteria at Sikeston Junior High School until her retirement. She was a charter member of the Illinois Avenue General Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher and worked with the youth.
She married Carl Irvin Thomann on March 15, 1940, in Benton, and he survives of the home.
Other survivors include one son, Kenneth Thomann of Paducah, Ky.; one daughter, Carlene Tinsley of Sikeston; three brothers, James Tanner of Sikeston, Otis Tanner of Flintstone, Ga., and Preston Tanner of Kingman, Ariz.; one sister, Rose Hill of Dexter; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 29, at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2004, at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Zook of Sikeston and Rev. Rick Lasley of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
