Dalton Francis, longtime resident of Butler and Stoddard County, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at the Missouri Veteran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 3, 1921, at Arkadelphia, Ark. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Dexter and Puxico V.F.W.. He was a first sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and a retired supervisor at Ozark Border.
On Nov. 11, 1945, he married Carmelita Francis, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 1994.
Other survivors include one son, Glen Francis of Dexter; one daughter, Kay Mattingly of Dexter; one brother, Howard Francis of Poplar Bluff; three grandchildren, Kelly Hixson, Scott Mattingly and Adrienne Francis, all of Dexter; and two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Hixson and Jacob Hixson, both of Dexter.
Visitation was held Monday, March 1, 2004, at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. today, March 2, 2004, at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home chapel in Poplar Bluff with Rev. Marshall Link and Rev. Kenneth Lambert officiating.
Interment followed in City Cemetery.
