Sylvia M. Gibson, the daughter of Virgie Lanning Gibson Larue and the late Tom Gibson, was born in Tallapoosa on May 3, 1922, and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Sunday, March 7, 2004, at the age of 81.

Mrs. Gibson had lived in Bloomfield most of her life. She was affiliated with the Baptist church.

Surviving are two sons, Leroy English of Gray Ridge and Charlie Cooper of Waco, Texas; one daughter, Bonnie Cooper of Oklahoma City, Okla.; her mother, Virgie Larue of Dexter; several grandchildren; three brothers, Alvin Gibson of Denver, Colo., Orville Gibson of Garden City, Miss., and Wesley Gibson of Bloomfield; four sisters, Goldie Lafferty of Bloomfield, Dorothy Dyson of Doniphan, Ada Harper of Centertown, and Donnie Warren of New Bloomfield.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Gibson, in 2001.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Robert Lafferty of Bloomfield officiating.

Interment will be in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
