Madeleine Smith

Madeleine Smith, daughter of the late Timothy Frogge Traylor and Stella Stewart Traylor, was born Oct. 20, 1909, at Charleston and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter on Monday, March 8, 2004, at the age of 94.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Bernie United Methodist Church, a former teacher in the Bernie School District, a member of the United Methodist Women and a resident of Bernie.

She was united in marriage to John D. Smith on June 15, 1938, at Piedmont. Mr. Smith preceded her in death on March 22, 1991.

Survivors include one daughter, Martie Smith of Bloomfield; two grandchildren, Angela McGowan and Jason McGowan; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Corbin and Jacie McGowan.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Danny J. Smith; and two brothers.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2004, in the Bernie United Methodist Church with Rev. Susan Marner-Sides officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
