Edward (Ed) Riggins

Edward (Ed) Riggins, son of the late Jack and Rose Issac Riggins was born Sept. 1, 1933, at Parma and died Jan. 16, 2004, at the Jefferson Barracks Hmospital in St. Louis at the age of 70.

He spent his early life at Dudley then moved to California where he worked for Hughes Air Craft for a number of years. He lived in Illinois for the past 16 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a retired construction worker.

Survivors include one son, Travis Riggins of Illinois; two daughters, Janice Riggins of Morehouse and Mitzi Riggins of Dexter; three brothers, Howard Riggins of California, Larry Riggins of Puxico, and John Riggins of Louisiana; five sisters, Lorene Abernathy of Dexter, Joy Hampton of Dudley, Mary Hays and Helen Walker of St. Ann, and Sarah Arant of St. Charles; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Herman Riggins and James Issac "Curly" Riggins, and one sister, Betty Barker, preceded him in death.

A memorial service was held Feb. 27, 2004, at the Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Placher officiating. Full military rites were conducted after the service.

He also leaves a very special friend of 16 years, Genese Baxter of Illinois.

Morgan Sifford Funeral Home of Puxico was in charge of the arrangements.
