Deslin "Jack" Oliver, son of the late James Harvey Oliver and Barbara Burrow Oliver, was born on Nov. 3, 1917, at Townley and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter on Monday, March 22, 2004, at the age of 86.
Mr. Oliver attended the First Assembly of God Church in Dexter, was a foreman in a shoe factory from 1945-1963. He then operated a used car lot and service station and was a resident of Dexter.
He was united in marriage to Delphia Brown on April 24, 1939, at New Madrid. Mrs. Oliver preceded him in death on June 22, 2003.
Survivors include three sisters, Ruby Jewell Buckley of Piggott, Ark., Melissa Buckley and Sylvia Hinze, both of Malden.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Orley "Dike" Oliver, James Allen Oliver and Otis Oliver; three sisters, Gracy Lucille Oliver, Oma Oliver and Oceola Hamlin.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2004, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ralph Buckley and Rev. Mike Davis officiating.
Interment will follow in the Malden Memorial Park Cemetery.
