Henry Cox

Henry Cox, son of the late Jessie Harrison Cox and Berdie Edmonson Cox, was born on Dec. 3, 1917, at Puxico and died in the Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter on Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at the age of 86.

Mr. Cox was a member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church, a retired farmer and a resident of rural Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Velma Ellen Deardorff on Dec. 24, 1936, at Fisk. Mrs. Cox preceded him in death on Dec. 22, 1986. He then married Bernience Rogers on May 6, 1988, at Essex, and she survives of the home at rural Dexter.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gordon H. Cox of Collierville, Tenn., and Rodger H. Cox of Bloomfield; one daughter, Sharon Sue Thompson of Puxico; one brother, Paul B. Cox of Dexter; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Besides his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Avery H. Cox.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2004, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Frank Bain officiating.

Interment will follow in the Harper Cemetery at Aid.
