Thomas Hubert Smith, son of the late William Francis Smith and Minnie Catherine Evans Smith, was born on Sept. 24, 1927, at Dexter and died in the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter on March 31, 2004, at the age of 76.

Mr. Smith was of the General Baptist faith, a retired machinist for McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, a member of the Masonic Lodge, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a resident of Dexter.

Survivors include three sons, Thomas F. Smith, Johnny Dale Smith and James Dexter Smith, all of Dexter; one daughter, Catherine Hebblethwaite of Dexter; nine grandchildren, Thomas E. Smith, Tina Marie Smith, Moe Moiser, Charles Moiser, Robert Hebblethwaite, Nikki Smith, Dakota Smith, Mackenzie Smith, and Montana Smith; and one brother, Gene Smith of Puxico.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Robbin Gay Smith.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2004, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Cooper officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
