Mary Reeda Palmer

Mary Reeda Palmer, daughter of the late John Neil Murphy and Mary Elizabeth Robinson Murphy, was born on Aug. 20, 1921, at Bernie and died in the Missouri Delta Medical Center at Sikeston on Sunday, April 4, 2004, at the age of 82.

She was united in marriage to Hershel William Palmer on April 1, 1939, at Piggott, Ark., and he preceded her in death on May 26, 1993.

Mrs. Palmer and her husband had owned and operated a service station and garage in Bernie. They had also managed motels in St. Louis.

Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Elaine Brown of Bernie; one brother, J.W. Murphy of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Beulah Summers of Dexter and Dorothy Kincaid of California; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Peter Murphy and Howard Murphy; and one sister, Doris Brown.

Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2004, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie with Rev. James Todd officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
