Charles Nelson Lumsden, 88, died Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston.
Born May 23, 1915, in Landers Ridge, son of the late Charles C. and Ora B. Wilmurth Lumsden, he was a retired farmer. A graduate of Matthews High School, he was a Gideon and a lifelong member of First Christian Church in Matthews where he served as Elder and Treasurer.
On Feb. 12, 1936, in Anniston, he married Leola M. Spalding, who preceded him in death on June 6, 1997.
On Aug. 18, 2000, he married Vearnies Ellen Landers, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 7, 2004.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Ann Lumsden of Dexter; one brother, John L. Lumsden of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Harold Q. Lumsden and Donald K. Lumsden, preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004, at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2004, with Rev. Caston Counts, former pastor of Matthews First Christian Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
