Mr. Vandiver was a member of the Bernie General Baptist Church, had farmed in the Bernie area and was a resident of Malden.
He was united in marriage to Alma Lee Taylor on July 17, 1937, at Cardville.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Lee Vandiver of Dexter; one son, Don Vandiver of Bushnell, Ill.; four daughters, Retha Clark of Marion, Ky., Jean Balsmeier of Hollister, Martha Kajdzik of Kent, Wash., and Alice Warren of Granite City, Ill.; one sister, Maude Duncan of St. Louis; 27 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Tom Vandiver, William Earl Vandiver and Ronnie Vandiver; three brothers, Orvil Vandiver, James Vandiver and Ernest Vandiver.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Phil Warren officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
