Charlotte Mae Proffer, 71, of Jackson, was born April 23, 1933, at Zalma, the daughter of the late Frank and Leafy Cato Rowe, and died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at her home.
She worked several years at Monsanto Company in St. Louis. Prior to that, she worked for the McDonnell-Douglas Corp. in St. Louis, and she was a charter member of the West Side General Baptist Church in Breckenridge Hills from 1956-1994. After moving to Jackson in 1996, she became a member of the First General Baptist Church in Jackson.
On Aug. 19, 1950, she and Wilburn Proffer were united in marriage, and he survives of the home.
Survivors include her husband, Wilburn Proffer of Jackson; one daughter, Linda Simpson of St. Charles; two sons, Roger Proffer of Ballwin and David Proffer of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Bill Rowe of Maryland Heights; three sisters, Frankie Barks of St. Peters, Bonnie Corbin of St. Louis County, and Sandra Davis of St. John; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Wanda Stephens.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2004, at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004, at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance with Rev. Luther Rhodes officiating.
Interment will follow in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
