W. Max Bollinger

W. Max Bollinger, 86, of Bell City, was born Sept. 29, 1917, at Bell City, the son of the late Walter and Zella Proffer Bollinger, and died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was the owner of The Bell City Store for 58 years. He was a member of the Bell City United Methodist Church and Bell City Lakeville Masonic Lodge. He was a charter member of the Bell City Rotary Club for 54 years with perfect attendance. He was also the former alderman and mayor.

On March 23, 1945, he and Jane Luke were united in marriage at Fredericktown, and she survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Beverly Phillips and Patricia J. j. Abner, both of Bell City; two sisters, Mona Rendleman and Bernice Dunn Warren, of Bell City; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters.

Visitation was held from 4:30-8 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2004, at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. Masonic rites were held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2004, at the Bell City United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda Zych officiating.

Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bell City.
