He had worked as a general supervisor for the Emerson Electric Co. and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II.
On March 22, 1946, he and Bobbie L. Dulaney were united in marriage, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Curtis E. Speer of Zalma; two daughters, Shirley Campbell of Advance and Martha Kelam of St. Louis; two sisters, Lola Dunn of Zalma and Juanita Holloman of St. Louis; four grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2004, at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004, at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.
Interment will follow in Speer Cemetery near Zalma.
