Jewel Talkington, the daughter of the late Benjamin Washington and Martha Ellen Duvall Turner, was born in Moreland, Ark., on Aug. 12, 1907, and died at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on Thursday, May 13, 2004, at the age of 96.

Mrs. Talkington was a homemaker and a resident of Dexter since 1946. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Dexter.

On Nov. 11, 1925, she was married to H. Berkley Talkington. He preceded her in death on July 8, 1972.

Surviving are two sons, Larry Don Talkington of Bryan, Ohio, and Danny Talkington of Gray Ridge; three daughters, Katherine Sheppard of Hernando, Miss., Shirley Gibbs of Risco, and Phyllis Norrid-Crites of Essex; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers; and four sisters.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2004, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2004, in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Bro. Dale Grissom of Dexter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
