Ada Evelyn Gregory, the daughter of the late K.G. and Ida Bell Baker Pyle, was born in Acorn Ridge on Aug. 29, 1902, and died at the Salem Care Center in Salem on Friday, May 16, 2004, at the age of 101.
Mrs. Gregory was a resident of Stoddard County most of her life. She had lived in the Puxico area from 1947 until 2000 when she moved to Salem.
Mrs. Gregory was a member of the Puxico General Baptist Church. On Mrs. Gregory's 100th birthday, she was presented with the keys to the city of Salem and also received a proclamation from the state of Missouri, presented by Rep. Frank Barnitz of the 150th District.
On Nov. 17, 1926, she was married to Ulis Sterl Gregory, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1969.
Surviving are two sons, Denzil Gregory of Pevely and Dawsey L. Gregory of Ste. Genevieve; two daughters, Lois Carpenter of Salem and Mildred Hardin of Hazelwood; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Lee Gregory; three brothers; and seven sisters.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2004, in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Kenneth Lambert of Bloomfield officiating.
Interment will be in the Bernie Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
