Rex B. Davis

Rex B. Davis, the son of the late Oscar B. and Cora Mae Neal Davis, was born in Parma on Oct. 26, 1918, and died at the Gideon Care Center on Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at the age of 85.

Mr. Davis had lived for 45 years in Michigan where he owned and operated three service stations. He spent seven years in Florida and has lived the past five years in Gideon. He was a retired mechanic with the Phillips Petroleum Co., was a former member of the Sadlers Chapel United Methodist Church in Dexter, and had been attending First Baptist Church in Gideon.

Mr. Davis was married to Mildred Cook, and she preceded him in death.

Surviving are one son, Butch Davis of Moriarty, N.M.; four daughters, Alma May Lewis of La Vergne, Tenn., Rita Beschorner of White House, Tenn., Elizabeth Ann Kalis of Dryden, Mich., and Linda Lee Simpson of Waterford, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, O. B. Davis, Jr. of Enid, Okla.; and one sister, Betty Bowman of St. Louis.

Mr. Davis is preceded in death by four brothers, Elton, Elmo, Ivan and Burl Davis.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2004, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2004, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Lloyd Anderson of Dexter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sadlers Chapel Cemetery near Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Sadlers Chapel Church in Dexter.
