Leo Joseph Lucas, Sr.

Leo J. Lucas, Sr., son of the late George Lucas, was born July 10, 1915, at Wild Rose, Wis., and died on Wednesday, June 9, 2004, in the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bloomfield at the age of 88.

Mr. Lucas was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter and a resident of Bloomfield.

On Aug. 20, 1938, he was united in marriage to Rose Ann Kuhns at Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Lucas survives of the home in Bloomfield.

Besides his wife, other survivors include one son, Leo Joseph Lucas, Jr. of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Bernadette Fuwell of Bloomfield and Bernadine Willard of Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Georgie Lucas of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one brother; one sister; and one grandchild.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2004, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Funeral services were conducted at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter on Monday, June 14, 2004, at 10 a.m. with Father David Dohoghn officiating.

Interment followed in the Essex Cemetery.
