Diana Lynn Durham McGowan

Diana Lynn McGowan, daughter of Donald Durham and Marlin Hillyard Durham, was born at Dexter on Feb. 8, 1957, and died in the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on June 18, 2004, at the age of 47.

She was united in marriage to Jan McGowan on April 26, 1975, in Bernie. To this union, two sons were born.

Mrs. McGowan was a clerk at ArvinMeritor at Dexter, where she enjoyed working for many years and formed lasting friendships that will be cherished forever. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church at Malden where she was substitute Sunday School teacher and was devoted to her church. She enjoyed walking in the park by her home and spending time with her family, grandchildren, and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Jan McGowan of Bernie; two sons, Jeremy Don McGowan and wife Tallehenia of Bernie, and Joshua Michael McGowan and wife Tara of Hayti; her parents, Donald and Marlin Durham of Bernie; one sister, Beckie Dawn Combs and husband Randall and children Ashley and Austin of Alton; and three grandchildren, Jaden, Darrian and Hailey; and her mother-in-law, Toots McGowan of Bernie.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, W.C. and Mamie Hillyard and Arthur and Glodie Durham; and her father-in-law, John Raymond McGowan.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 2004, at the First Assembly of God Church in Malden.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2004, at the First Assembly of God Church in Malden with Rev. Dale Shoup officiating.

Interment followed in the Bernie Cemetery.
