He was born Aug. 11, 1919, in Bloomfield to James L. and Francis Ada Gibson Hankins.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Rex, Clyde, Edward, Virgil and Akory Hankins; two sisters, Agnes Poe and Betty Hough.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hankins of Hot Springs, Ark.; three daughters, Laura Davenport of White, Hall, Ark., Norma Brewer of Conway, Ark., and Donna Hall of Hot Springs, Ark.; a brother, Charles Robert Hankins of Escondido, Calif.; a sister, Geneva Hart of Longview, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Aug. 5, 2004, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with grandson John Cope officiating.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer society or St. Joseph Hospice.
