Essie Evans Vinson, the daughter of the late Clabe C. and Bessie Elena Fowler Evans, was born in Maynard, Ark., on May 11, 1916, and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Facility in Dexter on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at the age of 88.

Mrs. Vinson had lived in Sikeston and Lebanon and East Alton, Ill. She moved to Dexter in 1979. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Dexter.

On April 8, 1941, she was married to Edwin Campbell Vinson in Ancel. He preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 1992.

Surviving are three brothers, Fowler Evans, Keiger Evans and Billy J. Evans, all of Dexter; three sisters, Theda Nydegger of Stayton, Ore., Wilma Thomasson of Mount Vernon, Ore., and Wanda Norman of Pleasantview, Utah.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Madge Evans.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Bro. Dale Grissom of Dexter officiating.

Interment will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
