He was a retired machinist at McDonald Douglas in St. Louis. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
On May 17, 1955, he and Lois J. Simmers were united in marriage at Sardis, Miss., and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Carl Leadbetter of Windfield; four daughters, Theresa Leadbetter of Elsberry, Lisa Rock of Bellflower, Carla Myers of Silex, and Felesia Reece of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers, Donald Leadbetter of Florissant and Jerry Leadbetter of Berkley; two sisters, Cledith McCuley of Momenee, Ill., and Jana Jones of Advance; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter.
Visitation was held from 4:30-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance with Rev. Jim Skinner officiating.
Interment followed in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
