Mr. Marcus attended the Fagus General Baptist Church, was a former factory worker and night watchman in Chicago, a veteran of the United States Army and a resident of rural Bloomfield.
He was united in marriage to Mary Ruth Schrader on July 11, 1946, at Chicago. Mrs. Marcus preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2004.
Survivors include one daughter, Gloria Bell of Bloomfield; one brother, Claude Marcus of Greenfield, Tenn.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Gaylord Leon Marcus; two brothers, Darrell Marcus and Paul Marcus; and one sister, Buna Pickens.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004. at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Hancock officiating.
Interment followed in the Dexter Cemetery.
