She lived in St. Louis from 1936-1963, then she moved to Dexter and lived for two years before moving to Bloomfield where she lived until entering the nursing home in 1999. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in Bloomfield.
On Oct. 13, 1929, she was married to Ruben R. Kitrel in Malden. He preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1991.
Surviving are three brothers, Russell Shelton of Cape Girardeau, David Shelton of Dexter, and John Shelton of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Rosie Allen of Aid and Agnes Blake of Malden; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death on Feb. 26, 2004, by one son, Donald R. Kitrel; eight brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Kevin Eskew of Bloomfield officiating.
Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
