Alma Loar Mashek, 83, of Advance was born March 18, 1921, at Advance, the daughter of the late Jacob and Loar Jenkins Tropf, and died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She retired as head teller at Bank of Advance; she had worked for the Bank of Advance for 40 years. She was a member of the Advance United Methodist Church and also a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Advance.

She and Raymond "Bud" Mashek were united in marriage on June 15, 1947, at Marquand, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 2003.

Survivors include a son, Michael Mashek of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Carla Hendrix of Advance; a sister, Helen Musgraves of Advance; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, at Advance United Methodist Church at Advance with Rev. Virgil Bunch officiating and assisted by Rev. Mike Eighmy.

Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Advance.
