Elaine Pope

Elaine Pope, daughter of Helen Rhodes Doris of Grandin and the late Ed Tallis, was born on Oct. 23, 1942, at Arnold and died in the St. Francis Medical Center at Cape Girardeau on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at the age of 61.

Mrs. Pope was of the Baptist faith, a former consultant for Avon products and a resident of Bloomfield.

She was united in marriage to Jimmie Max Pope on July 20, 1973, at East St. Louis, Ill. Mr. Pope preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1999.

Survivors include two daughters, Amanda Cobb of Bloomfield and Sherry Porterfield of Oklahoma City, Okla.; her mother, Helen Doris of Grandin; six grandchildren, Brody Wade Cobb, Briar Max Cobb, Nicky Porterfield, Nicole Porterfield, Johnny Porterfield and Patricia Porterfield.

Mrs. Pope was cremated and interment will be held at a later date in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at St. Louis. Arrangements by Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
