Aura Harper, 95, of Blytheville, Ark., formerly of Matthews, died on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at 12 p.m. at Heritage Square Nursing Center in Blytheville, Ark.

She was born Sept. 4, 1909, in Matthews to the late James and Pearl Hunott Hill. She was a housewife and a licensed practical nurse. She was formerly married to John Vaughn, and he preceded her in death. She married Max S. Harper on Oct. 30, 1955, in Sikeston, and he preceded her in death on June 8, 1998.

She is survived by one daughter, Arvilla Vaughn Shaffar of Lumberton, N.J.; one brother, George Hill of Dexter; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son; two brothers; two sisters; one grandson; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Visitation was held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel until time of services at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the Nunnelee Chapel. Rev. Kelley Grubbs, pastor of Murray Lane Baptist Church, will officiate.

Interment followed in Matthews Cemetery.
